About Us

Founded in 1989, the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition, Inc. (MassCann) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cannabis education, advocacy, and policy reform in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. With a mission to promote cannabis as an ecologically sound resource, medicine, and recreational substance, MassCann is committed to building a more informed, moral, and rational public policy surrounding cannabis use in all its forms.

As the organizer of the Boston Freedom Rally, New England’s largest annual free cannabis event, MassCann brings together advocates, activists, and the public to raise awareness, support reform, and celebrate cannabis culture while fostering a deeper understanding of its potential benefits. MassCann has been at the forefront of cannabis activism in Massachusetts, shaping public discourse and advocating for a more just and equitable cannabis landscape.

MassCann’s educational efforts include outreach to lawmakers, media, and the general public to raise awareness of cannabis’ benefits, its role in environmental sustainability, and its potential as a medicine and recreational substance. The organization continues to advocate for policies that align with the values of fairness, health, and liberty, and to create a more informed, thoughtful dialogue around cannabis reform.

In addition to the Boston Freedom Rally, MassCann hosts various events, forums, and campaigns aimed at advancing cannabis policy, promoting social justice, and fostering responsible cannabis use. Through these efforts, MassCann remains a key advocate for the legalization and regulation of cannabis in Massachusetts and beyond.
