What isn't? Let's define an "addict" as a user who says: "I've tried to cut back but don't seem to be able to". About 7%-9% of marijuana users agree with this statement, which should be compared with the 80% of smokers who agree. (You are asked to consult your personal experience for the number of people who would say that about fattening foods, shopping, alcohol, computer games, dysfunctional relationships, etc.) Most of those who have smoked marijuana have done so fewer than a dozen times, which makes pot a pretty weak addictor by any definition. 40% have only smoked once or twice.

Of course, that 7-9% should receive whatever help they need to achieve their ends. Narcotics Anonymous has a good rep. There is even one group that meets via email.
