"Marijuana, in its
natural form, is one of the safest therapeutically active
substances known to
man." DEA Chief
Administrative Law Judge Francis L.
Young 1988, ruling IN
FAVOR OF the Medical Value of Marijuana.

Carrying signs reading, "It is evil to deny sick people medical marijuana," chanting
"Medical marijuana now!" and handing out information pamphlets, demonstrators
attracted the attention
of tourists, businesspeople and workers at Quincy Market.
"Everyone we contacted expressed support for medical marijuana," said Steve Epstein,
Esq., Treasurer of
MassCann.
Meanwhile, inside the barricaded building, Drug Czar John Walters and
his specially-selected
guests fed the six New England governors half-truths about marijuana's medical efficacy. MassCann
member Marci Duda, who secured one of the few seats available to the general public, said,
"They were up there complaining about the heroin problem. Then why is it so easy for me to
be prescribed Oxy-Contin for my medical conditions but I can't get medical marijuana? They
would rather I get started on the road to heroin addiction through using narcotics instead of
non-addictive
marijuana."
Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney indicated he favors further medical
marijuana research in
the Commonwealth.
Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 94C, enacted during the Weld administration, provides
a process by which marijuana could be prescribed in this state, that marijuana must be supplied
by Federally approved growers, which hasn't yet happened. The Massachusetts legislature is
considering H. 2965 tp://www.state.ma.us/legis/bills/house/ht02965.htm), which would make
Massachusetts' law
similar to states that permit their citizens and caregivers to grow.
